Why Diabetes Foot Wounds Getting Slow Healing?

For this case study, diabetes wounds especially foot ulcers
or wounds take longest to healing, even well control of
blood sugar levels, proper monitoring dressing, compare to
others diabetes wounds.

This patient take around 10 months completed wounds healing.
Daily insulin injections are required from 2 times per day,
have been reduced to 1 times injection, after 2 months
treatment. Maintain a normal glucose level 6-7 mmol/L.

Medical report was shown that kidney problem become normal
after 2 months treatment, when patient follow-up check-up
second months in general Hospital.

Some of the reason why diabetes foot wounds getting slow
healing
-Patient frequently walking.
-Blood circulation for foot blockage.
-Not control for eating food like seafood, egg, beans, dessert,
  instant noodles.
-Not completely use combination product due to can't effort
to pay cost of use product continuously during several
months.Only use main important product (cellfood, tropical
  gel,guarana).
-Reduce intake product daily.
-Foot skin too thick, getting long period to grow out.

Diabetes Causes

Why are people with diabetes wounds at high risk of
nerve pain, heart disease, kidney failure and blindness?

When blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol are out of
control, can lead to some potentially serious complication.

The main complication which is heart attack, stroke, blindness,
kidney failure and diabetes wounds lead to amputation.

Diabetes complications can happens because of uncontrolled
high blood sugar.A lot of people don't really think, how often
diabetes causes serious happen and destroy our health.

If you have uncontrolled diabetes,a serious and deep-seated
foot infection can affect loss of a toe, foot,or leg and an
amputation to save your life.

High blood sugar slowly injures the blood vessels, nerves, and
organs in your body.

Diabetic Neuropathy, which is the damage of nerves in the feet
causing decrease in the sensitivity of the feet.

Diabetic Vasculopathy is another common causes of the feet,
where the blood vessels hardens and becomes narrowed
effected in poor circulation of blood to the feet. This risk can
increased slow healing of wounds of getting foot ulcers,
numbness,nerve pain,burning,and abrasions.

The patients also typically experience tingling sensation, dampness
and coldness in the feet due to poor blood circulation, blister
formation,swelling,redness,calluses,corns or bunions.Fungal
infections due to insufficient blood supply to the fatty tissues
surrounding the toes and foot are quite commonly observed.

Hence, diabetic patients should pay attention, awareness about the
causes of foot disease can reduce the risks of developing serious
problem,as thorough foot care can prevent or delay the effects of
neuropathy.

Heart disease, problem with the heart and blood vessels-Cardiovascular
disease.Heart attack,heart failure,and increased risks of stroke.High
blood sugar,high blood lipid levels,high blood pressure,smoking,
excess body weight is the most important causes of factors for
Cardiovascular disease, those of type 2 diabetes.

Diabetic retinopathy,Major eye complications are linked to blood
vessel problems in the eyes.Diabetes is a leading cause of preventable
blindness.

Diabetic nephropathy,is more common risk in men with diabetes
than women, and is associated with high blood pressure.
Good control of blood sugar and blood pressure can minimizing
the risk of this condition.

The diabetes causes are indeed serious, keeping blood sugar under
control is the most important factor in preventing them. But people
have a hard time grasping just how critical that is.

Type 1 And Type 2 Diabetes

There Are Two Main Types Of Diabetes

In Type 1 diabetes, when insulin producing cell in the
pancreas which help to regulate blood sugar levels have
been destroyed.Type 1 diabetes is also known as juvenile
diabetes because it is mostly diagnosed on patients with
usually starts in childhood, although some people develop
Type 1 diabetes when they are adults below age 35.

Type 1 diabetes,is an autoimmune disease.An autoimmune
disease results when the body's system for fighting infection
(the immune system) turns against a part of the body.In
diabetes, the immune system attacks and destroys the insulin
producing beta cell in the pancreas. The pancreas then
produces little or no insulin.A person who has Type 1
diabetes must take insulin daily to live.

Type 2 diabetes, the cell in the body tissues become unable
to respond properly to insulin. This means that the pancreas
has to work harder to produce more insulin. This causes the
cell in the pancreas become 'worn out' and are unable to
produce insulin as effectively as they used to.This generally
happens after the age of  40.

Type 2 diabetes is most common form of diabetes is most
often associate with older age, obesity, family history of
diabetes,previous history of gestational diabetes,physical
inactivity,and certain ethnicity.

People who are overweight are particularly likely to develop
Type 2 diabetes.However,Type 2 diabetes is increasing
being diagnosed in children and adolescents today.

Type 2 Diabetes is a lifestyle disease that often can be
prevented or controlled by a proper diet and exercise.

How To Prevent Diabetic Foot Ulcers

Diabetic, blood sugar if not control very well, will lead to many
complications such as neuropathy,macrovascular disease,vision
loss, and decreased immunity.Diabetics foot ulcers is the most
common and serious complication.

The Main Symptoms

-Foot arteriosclerosis
-Ulcers
-Infections and gangrene,
-Foot pain, often caused great pain to the patient, the consequences
may lead to amputation and even life-threatening.

Diabetics foot ulcers may cause amputation of the lower limbs if delay
to do treatment. It can be dangerous because these ulcerations can
become the portal of entry of several infective agents, such as bacteria
and other microorganisms. You may be wondering what might be the
cause of these foot ulcers.

Diabetic patients have poor sensory perception and diabetes wounds
take time to heal than normal,a small cut or a wound in the feet of a
diabetic can be left untreated if not checked immediately. It can later
on lead to ulceration, infection, and finally lower limb amputation.

Tips To Prevent Diabetes Wounds and Foot Ulcers

-Regular foot inspection

-Daily check of the foot of the diabetes patient for cuts or wounds
should be a practice .

-Even a small swelling is seen during feet check up,it can lead to
a more complicated condition if treatment is delayed.

-Daily washing using mild soap and lukewarm water, too hot or too
cold water can cause dryness of the skin, that can later on develop
 into calluses or ulcers.

-Do not rub vigorously,it can cause friction and damage the skin,

-Avoid rough scrubbers and chemicals as well.

-After washing, make sure the feet are dry, especially the parts in
between the toes.Apply some moisturizers to avoid cracking of the
 sole of the feet.

-Diabetes patient must wear the correct and proper size, material,
 and texture of the footwear.

-Toenails should be cut properly to avoid hangnails.

-Patient should never walk barefooted or without any foot protection
 to avoid getting foot injury.

-Exercise,only suitable for diabetes patient foot without wounds.

-Reflexology,during this method,self-massage 20 minutes of the feet,
from toe tip up to the knee to improve blood circulation, reduce
swelling and feet pain.Prefer self-massage early morning and
before night sleep.Families must helping, let the patient know the
proper way and simple guidance and advice to prevent diabetic foot.

-Smoking,accelerates damage to blood vessels, especially small blood
vessels leading to pool circulation, which is a major rick factor
for foot infections and ultimately amputations.

-Proper diet,taking your medications,supplement product,checking
your blood sugar regularly, exercising regularly, and maintaining
for consistent long-term blood sugar control to near normal lever
can greatly lower the rick of damage to your nerves, kidneys, eyes,
 and blood vessels.

Symptoms Of Diabetes Type 1 And Type 2

Common Symptoms:

-Fatigue :The body is inefficient and sometimes unable to use
glucose for fuel. The body switches over to metabolizing fat,
partially or completely, as a fuel source. This process requires
the body to use more energy. The end result is feeling fatigued
 or constantly tired.

-Weight Loss :People with diabetes are unable to process
many of the calories in the foods they eat. They may lose
weight even though they eat an apparently appropriate or
even excessive amount of food. Losing sugar and water in
the urine and the accompanying dehydration also contributes
 to weight loss.

-Excessive Thirst :A person with diabetes develops high
blood sugar levels, which overwhelms the kidney's ability
to reabsorb the sugar as the blood is filtered to make
urine. Excessive urine is made as the kidney spills the
excess sugar. The body tries to counteract this by sending
a signal to the brain to dilute the blood, which translates
into thirst. The body encourages more water consumption to
dilute the high blood sugar back to normal levels and to
compensate for the water lost by excessive urination.

-Excessive Urination :Another way the body tries to get rid
of the extra sugar in the blood is to excrete it in the urine.
This can also lead to dehydration because excreting the
sugar carries a large amount of water out of the body
 along with it.

-Excessive Eating :If the body is able, it will secrete more
insulin in order to try to deal with the excessive blood
sugar levels. Moreover, the body is resistant to the action
of insulin in type 2 diabetes. One of the functions of insulin  is to
stimulate hunger. Therefore, higher insulin levels lead to
increased hunger and eating.Despite increased caloric intake,
the person may gain very little weight and may even lose weight.

-Poor Diabetes Wounds Healing :Normally, high blood sugar
levels prevent white blood cells, which are important in
defending the body against bacteria and also in cleaning
up dead tissue and cells. When these cells do not function
properly,it will affected diabetes wounds take long time
to heal and become infected more frequently and also,
long-standing diabetes is associated with thickening of
blood vessels, which prevents good circulation including
the delivery of enough oxygen and other nutrients to body
 tissues.

-Infections:Certain infection syndromes, such as frequent
yeast infections of the genitals, skin infections, and
frequent urinary tract infections, may result from
suppression of the immune system by diabetes and by the
presence of glucose in the tissues, which allows bacteria
 to grow well.

-Altered Mental Status :Agitation,unexplained irritability,
inattention, extreme lethargy,or confusion can all be
signs of very high blood sugar, ketoacidosis, hyperosmolar
 hyperglycemia nonketotic syndrome,or hypoglycemia
(low blood sugar). Thus, any of these merit the immediate
attention of a medical professional.Call your health care
 provider.

What Is Diabetes?

When the body has difficulty in regulating its blood sugar,
or glucose levels a disorder is contracted named, diabetes.
Diabetes mellitus, it is a lifelong disease that needs to be
treated and managed properly in order to prevent other
serious complications to occur.

When you have diabetes, your body has a problem making
or properly using insulin.Insulin function is in order for cell to
be able to use the glucose that is the blood to make energy,
they need to be 'unlocked',and insulin is the key.Insulin is a
hormone, made in the pancreas.

There is steady release of insulin from beta-cell in the pancreas
into the blood all the time. However, when blood sugar levels rise
after a meal, there is a short burst of increased insulin released
from the pancreas.

Along with the glucose, insulin is then transported around the body
in the blood to the cell which are in need of 'fuel’.On the surface
of these cell are 'landing pads' for insulin, known as receptors.
These receptors are a bit like tiny keyholes for the insulin 'key'.

When this system is working properly, blood sugar remain fairly
constant throughout the day. When blood sugar rises, for example
after a meal, the extra insulin that is released from the pancreas
allows the glucose to be taken up into cells, restoring the level in
the blood back to normal. On the other hand, when insulin levels
are low, the liver released glucose from its glycogen stores to top
up the blood sugar level.

Common Symptoms Of Diabetes Include:

-Excessive urination.
-Being very thirsty.
-Feeling very hungry or tired.
-Unexplained weight Loss.
-Poor wounds healing.
-Infections:genital,skin infections.

Diabetes is a very serious disease.
Diabetes can lead to other serious health problems. When high
levels of glucose in the blood are not controlled, they can
slowly damage your eyes,heart,kidneys,nerves,and feet.

Diabetes Hyperglycemia And Hypoglycemia

Diabetes is a chronic medical condition, meaning that
although it can be controlled, it can threaten in lifetime.

Diabetes is a group of metabolic diseases characterized
by high blood sugar (glucose) levels. Glucose is a form
of sugar in the blood,it is the principal source of fuel
for our bodies. When food is digested the glucose makes
its way into bloodstream. Our cells use the glucose for
energy and growth.Glucose cannot enter our cells without
insulin being present, insulin makes it possible for our
cells to take in the glucose.

Too much glucose building up in the blood, this excess blood
glucose eventually passes out of the body in urine. So, even
though the blood has plenty of glucose, the cells are not
getting it for their essential energy and growth requirements.

Blood glucose levels are tightly controlled by insulin,
a hormone produced by the pancreas. Insulin lowers the blood
glucose level. When the blood glucose elevates (for example,
after eating food), insulin is released from the pancreas to
normalize the glucose level. In patients with diabetes, the
absence or insufficient production of insulin causes
hyperglycemia.

Hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar, occurs from time to time in
most people with diabetes. Hypoglycemia is a condition where
the level of glucose in the blood drops too low (below 3.0 mmol/L).
It results from taking too much diabetes medication or insulin
(sometimes called an insulin reaction), missing a meal, doing more
exercise than usual, drinking too much alcohol, or taking certain
medications for other conditions. It is very important to recognize
hypoglycemia and be prepared to treat it at all times. Headache,
feeling dizzy, poor concentration, tremors of hands, and sweating
are common symptoms of hypoglycemia.

When hypoglycemia happens, you can manage it without
medical help, by consuming a sugary food or drink. However,
if hypoglycemia is moderate or severe, you will need help and
possible emergency treatment. It is important to know how to
recognize hypoglycemia before it gets too serious.

Diabetic Meter

Diabetic Meter also names as; blood glucose monitor, glucose
meters, glucose monitors, diabetes monitor, blood glucose
monitoring system and home glucose monitor.

People with diabetes have to be purchase the best diabetic meter
in order to monitor daily glucose levels. You need to prick your
finger and take the blood as sample to measure the readings. The
diabetic meter is very easy to use at home and also saves a lot
of time in commuting to the hospitals or clinic.Diabetic meter with
displays the results only in 5 seconds.

Diabetic meter can be purchased from a local pharmacy, clinic or
hospital. Most of brands Diabetes meter purchased with warranty in
several period.(minimum 1 years)

Type 1 diabetes patients are normally advised to check their
sugar levels several times a day. Ensure that your glucose meter
is manufactured by a reputed company. Browse the Internet to
gather more information about the accuracy of results.

You can choose suitable size glucose monitoring meter, If you
want to carry this device in the pocket or in a backpack.
Average size from minimum 3 – 4 inches and weight around 1-5
ounces.

Small meters may not be useful to read the display readings
correctly, hence if you have problems with your vision, you can
choose bigger meters. There are diabetic meters specially designed
for the visually challenged people with larger display screen.

The amount of blood taken in a sample is also a consideration,
especially if you are going to be a regular user of these kits.
Some of the models use 0.3 ml of blood per test while some models
consume 1 ml of blood to give a perfect reading.

The built-in memory of the diabetic meters can store values of just
10 – 125 tests, some of them can record 250 or 500 tests!

Most of the diabetic meters give accurate reading only when the
sample is taken from certain areas like upper arm or palm, while
many meters are approved for testing from sample taken from
alternate areas like leg or forearm.

If your child has got diabetes at a very young age, you
should see the suitability of using the diabetic meter. The foil
wrap strips should be easy to use. The meter should require
smaller amount of blood samples for testing.

Tips Success To Treat Diabetes Wounds Healing

When you doing by your self and family, You must be bold and
more effort to learn to do therapy. This is very important to whose
  doing this types of treatment.
From my experience, many patients and families, very scared to
do clean the wounds, Even have been teaching simple method to
  cleaning the wound.

a)Monitoring daily taken insulin injections or Diabetes Pills are
required to maintain a normal glucose level. Taking over insulin
injection or Diabetes Pills, this will be dangerous to patient which
can causing hypoglycemia.so, please use glucose meter to confirm
blood sugar level, before taking insulin or diabetes pills.(after meal
  taking is prefer)

b)Daily checking levels periodically and record blood sugar readings
as a reference by using blood glucose meter .

c)Avoid eating any food make by eggs, all kinds of bean, seafood,
hot dog, fast food, carbonated drinks, fruit juices, biscuits, cake, jam,
chocolates, ice-cream and all the sweeten foods etc.. these will be
cause increasing wounds affected area or generate bad smelly pus,
wounds becomes worse and more complicated to treat and slow
  down wounds healing process.

d)Diabetes wounds no need to use bandage, but must always
take care to avoid fly insects stays and causing worm.
Without bandage, wounds will be more fast to increase healing
  process.

e)Family members need to fully support, advice and take care
all the daily needs of the patient during wounds treatment period.
-as a aide to help with wound care and dressing
 -monitor blood sugar,
 -daily food taken,
-daily monitor consumption of medicine(antibiotics,etc..) and
   combination of healthy product.
